An email confirmation with a calendar invite already stops a lot of no-shows. A text the day before stops more — people read texts. So SMS reminders are the next thing coming to Pro.
Texts aren't free, so they won't be free
Every text a phone network delivers costs the sender a few cents. Plenty of booking apps bundle a small allowance into a plan, then charge far more than cost once you go over it. We'd rather be straight: you'll pay what each text costs us, and not a cent more. BookInnTime makes nothing on SMS.
One registered sender
From July 2026, Australian texts sent under a name rather than a number have to come from a sender ID registered with the ACMA; unregistered ones show up marked as unverified. Rather than every business registering its own, reminders will come from a registered BookInnTime sender with your business name in the message. It's the difference between a trustworthy text and one people delete.
The decision we'd like help with
There are two sensible ways to pay for texts. Prepaid credits: buy a pack of texts in advance and watch the balance go down, with no chance of a surprise bill. Or pay as you go: only pay for texts actually sent, added to your monthly Pro bill.
Credits are more predictable; pay-as-you-go is less fiddly. If you have a preference, tell us — it will decide which we build first.
When
Once card payments for BookInnTime itself are fully live, SMS switches on for Pro businesses first. It'll be off until you turn it on, and you'll see the price per text before you do. If you're not on Pro yet, the first 30 days are free.
